In order to ensure a competitive scientific level of the content of the scientific journal “Physics of Atmosphere and Geospace” (hereinafter - the Journal) introduced mandatory double blind review of manuscripts and high quality requirements for scientific research. Manuscripts submitted by authors to the editor are reviewed by independent experts in the chosen discipline with anonymity for both the author and the reviewers.
The manuscript submitted by the Author is considered by the Editorial office of the Journal for compliance with the requirements presented in the Authors Guidelines and the absence of plagiarism.
If the manuscript is drafted according to the rules it is evaluated by the Deputy Editor-in-Chief for meeting all scientific criteria, journal scope etc. and assigned Reviewers.
The manuscript is sent to two experts for independent anonymous review who carry out their duties in a timely and unbiased manner, are not financially interested and do not present the interests of a competing institution or organization. Reviewers are specialists in the field and have in the last three years published articles in editions indexed by Scopus, Web of Science and the Register of Scientific Professional Publications of Ukraine.
In case of a negative response to the work, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief appoints an additional Reviewer and makes a final decision based on his response.
If the manuscript is rejected the Author is notified by e-mail. The Editorial Board retains the right of not discussing its decision with the authors.
During the reviewing process the Reviewer is recommended to use the Form developed by the Editorial Board which specifies the main requirements to the manuscript, including
- correspondence of the subject of the manuscript to the scientific directions (headings) of the journal;
- whether the research topic is of interest today;
- whether the data are novel and trustworthy;
- whether the research methods and statistical treatment are correct;
- whether the relevant literature is taken into account thoroughly and fully;
- whether the conclusions are accurate and well-founded;
- decision on the possibility (or impossibility) of publishing a peer-reviewed manuscript in a journal.
The completed review is sent to the Editorial office of the Journal by e-mail or through the website.
The manuscript sent to the author for revision must be returned in a corrected form within two weeks. The revised manuscript is accompanied by a letter from the author, which contains answers to all comments and explains all the changes made in the article.
